You can begin Ballads and Pawprints in the Forsaken Quarter near the Ash Pit. Old Jun and Ha Ha only appear between the Wei and You hours, so make sure to visit during this timeframe.
Walkthrough
Follow these steps to complete the Ballads and Pawprints Encounter Quest in Where Winds Meet:
Step 1
Travel to the Forsaken Quarter and head toward the Ash Pit. You’ll hear locals talk about a singing dog who performs alongside a beggar. Remember that he and Ha Ha appear only between the Wei and You hours.
Step 2
You must tip Old Jun 5 coins every three in-game days to trigger the encounter.
Step 3
After the encounter triggers, return to the Ash Pit during You hour and speak with Old Jun again.
Step 4
You’ll find him anxiously calling out for Ha Ha. When you ask what happened, Old Jun explains that his dog has vanished. He suspects either the Unbound Cavern members or the local beggar children.
Step 5
Go to the Unbound Cavern hideout and eavesdrop on the group’s conversation.
Step 6
Defeat the cavern members.
Step 7
Inspect their pot nearby, turns out it was just vegetable scraps.
Step 8
Head to the alley where the beggar children gather and eavesdrop on their conversation. You will hear them talking about an animal they’ve kept in a cage.
Step 9
Approach the children and open the cage, only to discover it’s just a kitten, not Ha Ha.
Step 10
Return to Old Jun and report everything you’ve learned.
Step 11
Guide Old Jun as he continues searching for Ha Ha. Along the way, you’ll meet an elderly woman who explains that she found the dog collapsed on the street. She took him home to care for him but now needs a specific herb to treat him properly.
Step 12
Go back to the Unbound Cavern hideout and search the area for the herb she requested.
Step 13
Bring the herb back to the granny so she can continue treating Ha Ha.
Step 15
Adjust the in-game time to Wei hour to progress the final stage.
Step 16
Return once more to the Ash Pit. You’ll find Old Jun reunited with Ha Ha, singing together just as before. Their reunion marks the end of this touching Encounter Quest.
