The LG Optimus G, LG’s top Android device in the market today, comes in both an 8 megapixel and a 13 megapixel camera variant, with different markets getting either one of those models. It was earlier speculated that Australia would be getting the 8MP variant, but LG support has told AusDroid that Australia will be getting the 13MP variant instead, and also support LTE connectivity.

This isn’t exactly something that you should be jumping with joy about, as the 8MP variant of the Optimus G has been shown to be just as good as the 13MP when it comes to taking pics, though those who love a higher megapixel count will welcome the news with open arms.

Other specs of the device will in all likelihood remain the same, including a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, 2GB RAM, 4.7″ True HD IPS+ display, 32GB of internal storage (no microSD slot), Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 HS, A-GPS, MHL and DLNA, NFC, LTE, HSPA, 2,100mAh battery, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (to be updated to 4.1 this year).

The Optimus G is scheduled to launch in Australia in early 2013 according to LG. Would you guys be interested in waiting that long, or do you have your eyes on the LG Nexus 4, which comes with the latest version of Android and similar specs (though no LTE)?
