Samsung and AT&T are rolling out a new software update to the Galaxy Note 8 in the U.S. The update arrives with a new security patch as well as some needed bug fixes and system improvements.

Google’s May 2019 security patch is almost here, but the Galaxy Note 8 is now receiving April 2019 security update. This isn’t strange given that a carrier is involved. In Europe, where the device is sold unlocked and updates come directly from Samsung, this same update was released in early April.

Even so, it probably took AT&T a little longer to release the update because the carrier had to include a fix for BSCP/VPN failure issue as well as the usual system-wide performance improvements.

The OTA has been available for a few days now, so most Note 8 users should have received the download notification. If not, it’s only a matter of time before it arrives.
