AT&T is currently rolling out a new software update for the LG G4. Nope, it’s not a Nougat update, it’s just a security update. If you own an AT&T locked LG G4, you should receive a notification about the update soon.

The security update is rolling out as OTA, and installs the February Android security patch. The software version of the update is H81022d and it is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. We already know that the G4 will be getting the Nougat update, but it’s going to take a while.

As per LG, the G4 and the LG V10 would be getting the Android Nougat update in Q3 2017. That’s a long way to go, and that’s probably for the unlocked variants. For carrier locked devices, the update could take even longer to arrive.

For now, we suggest you be happy with Marshmallow, and also install the latest security update. Make sure your device has more than 50 percent charge and is connected to a Wi-Fi or LTE network. If you still want to try Nougat on the G4, there’s always LineageOS.
