The LG G3 is more than a year old now, and you know what AT&T does with aging yet capable devices? It delays Android updates on them. Sadly, the AT&T LG G3 will suffer the same fate.
Google announced Android 6.0 Marshmallow yesterday alongside Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. The update will first rollout to the search giant’s own Nexus devices first, of course. But you AT&T LG G3 users, will whining for it. And unfortunately, AT&T won’t tell you a single soul soothing word to let you know when the Marshmallow update for AT&T G3 will arrive.
We expect LG to release the Marshmallow update for G3 by Q1 2016, but we will hardly see AT&T G3 getting Android 6.0 around that same time.
Even though LG would submit the Marshmallow update for AT&T G3 to AT&T around the same time it releases the update to G3’s international variant, the carrier would still take 3-6 months to push a FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) update for the same to its own G3 variant. That’s just how annoying AT&T works.
For those of you expecting the Android 6.0 update for AT&T G3 anytime soon, I’d hate to crush your dream but there’s no chance Marshmallow would happen to your devices anytime soon.
We’d expect the AT&T LG G3 Marshmallow by Q2 2016. What’s your guess? Let us know in comments section below.
Expected release: Q2 2016
