The dreams of having a powerful phone that can turn into a tablet when needed will have to wait to be fulfilled till early 2013 for prospective customers in the UK, as ASUS has confirmed to TechRadar that early 2013 is when the PadFone 2 will be making its way to the country. ASUS announced the release date for many European countries to be before the end of 2012, on the day of the device’s unveiling, but the UK wasn’t lucky enough to be in the list.
Like you probably already know, the PadFone 2 is a 4.7″ quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro-powered smartphone that can be used to power a 10.1″ tablet display on the PadFone Station, extending both the display size as well as the battery capacity. The phone comes with 2GB RAM, 720p Super IPS+ LCD display, 13 megapixel camera, 1.2 megapixel front camera, 16/32/64GB storage and 50GB of ASUS WebStorage for two years, NFC, 2,140 mAh battery, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, with an update to Android 4.1 coming soon. The PadFone Station comes with a 10.1″ 1280 x 800 display, and a 5000 mAh battery.
Disappointed to hear that you won’t be able to get your hands on the PadFone 2 before next year?
