We all know that ASUS is going to officially announce the Padfone 2 on October 16th in Italy and China, thanks to the invites ASUS sent out to the press. But till now, no official specs have been given, and the device has only been speculated to sport specs like a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB RAM, a 720p HD screen as well as Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, specs which also appeared on a box apparently of the Padfone 2.

DigiTimes is now reporting that at least two of those speculated specs – Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and a higher resolution display than the qHD of the original – will indeed be present in the Padfone 2. The former is expected, seeing how ASUS has already pushed the Android 4.1 update to two of its tablets, indicating that ASUS’ version of Android 4.1 is ready to be used in future devices as well.

DigiTimes also reports that the Padfone 2 will ship in limited numbers as it is aimed at the extremely high-end market, which again isn’t a surprise considering the high cost of the original Padfone. Things will become more clear as we inch closer to the official announcement, so stay with us for more info on the next Padfone.
