Arknights Endfield‘s Wuling region represents the second major story area players explore after completing the initial Jingyu Valley chapter. Unlike traditional faction-based games, Endfield doesn’t organize its playable roster by their home regions. Instead, the game features operators recruited to Endfield Industries, a construction and industrial conglomerate, alongside assigned personnel from Rhodes Island, an international organization.

The Wuling arc introduces players to the region’s political structure, centered around Wuling City, a major settlement built above one of the largest known rifts in the Civilization Band. The region is governed by the Hongshan Academy of Sciences, a prestigious research institution that serves as both a scientific hub and the de facto governing body of Wuling.
Characters in Your Roster vs. NPCs in Wuling
It’s important to distinguish between playable operators (characters you recruit through gacha) and NPCs (non-playable story characters). Several characters introduced in the Wuling arc are NPCs at launch but are confirmed or strongly implied to become playable in future updates.

Balanced Team Structure
A well-rounded team typically includes 1-2 Defenders for frontline durability, 1-2 Vanguards for SP generation, 1-2 Damage Dealers (Guard, Striker, or Caster), and 1-2 Supports for utility and healing.
Elemental Synergy
Building teams around specific elements maximizes reaction potential. Heat Compositions combine Ember, Laevatain, Wulfgard, and Akekuri for combustion chains. Cryo Compositions use Yvonne, Last Rite, Xaihi, Snowshine, and Estella for freeze-focused control. Electric Compositions pair Perlica, Avywenna, Arclight, and Antal for chain reactions.
Class-Based Synergy
Certain class combinations unlock powerful strategies: Striker + Elemental Setups where Strikers deal massive damage when allies apply effects; Caster + Support where Casters enable reactions that supports amplify; and Guard + Vanguard where Guards benefit from rapid SP generation.
Arknights Endfield’s Wuling arc introduces one of the game’s most compelling regions, governed by the prestigious Hongshan Academy of Sciences and led by the mysterious Viceroy Zhuang Fangyi. The 23-operator launch roster provides diverse gameplay options across six classes and five damage elements. Whether you’re building a balanced team, chasing elemental reactions, or preparing for upcoming Wuling characters, understanding each operator’s role, rarity, and capabilities is essential.
