If you thought Yureka is already an undisputed king of low-range segment of smartphones, well Archos 50 Diamond will make you think again, and settle again for the fact that things are never settled in current gen of smartphones. Such are the specifications of Archos 50 Diamond, that it’s hard to believe it costs only £80 ($125 approx.). You may not buy yourself or your girlfriend a diamond ring at that price, but you can surely buy Archos 50 Diamond. There is always a new device coming soon to shake the game, right?
So, let’s first talk about the Archos 50 Diamond specifications.
To start with Archos 50 Diamond is a 4G phone, providing yet another budget option to users eyeing LTE at very low cost.
Archos 50 Diamond is powered by the 64-bit 1.5GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, with Adreno 405 (at 550MHz) taking the graphical duties. Yes, it’s that 615 processor again. Another day, another Snapdragon 615 powered Android device. Or let’s call it: Archos 50 Diamond is the new phone powered by Snapdragon 615 processor from Qualcomm for the today. Anyway, this processor is the king in low- and mid-range segment, while its own big brother, Snapdragon 810, rules the high-end segment. If you’re into stock market, it’s good to think about buying Qualcomm, I’d wager.
Back to 50 Diamond specs, it’s got 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage (microSD card support up to 128GB), 16MP and 8MP cameras and 2700 mAh battery all packed in an 8mm thin body, that also houses its 5.0 inch Full HD display, resolution being 1920 x 1080 pixels (440PPI).
At this price, Archos 80 Diamond is the only device which gets you Full HD display, AFAIK, and thus that PPI. It’s amazing what Archos has been able to pack in for £80. And doesn’t look shabby either, it’s cool.
We were already in awe of the Yu Yureka Cyanogen OS phone, but Archos has really taken the game one notch up. While Yureka was costing INR 8,999 in India, at 80, Archos is offering the £50 Diamond for roughly INR 7,999. Guess we will have to re-think our best budget phone comparison, linked below. Do check it out to know how Yureka bosses all phones. Ouch, now it doesn’t though.
