ARC Raiders does not allow free or immediate respecs of skill trees. Instead, respeccing is part of a larger seasonal reset system called the Expedition Project. When a player reaches level 20, they unlock the option to participate in this cycle. Every 8 weeks, players can choose to reset their character, returning them to level 1 with all gear, skill points, and workshop upgrades wiped clean. Despite this reset, players keep their cosmetics, achievements, and any account-wide buffs, ensuring progress beyond just character-specific stats is preserved.
How the Expedition Project allows respec
The Expedition Project runs on a fixed cycle:
- You commit to a reset cycle every 8 weeks once at level 20.
- At the end of a cycle, your character resets automatically or when you choose to reset.
- All skill points spent in the skill tree are lost on reset, effectively allowing you to respec by reallocating points from scratch.
- Your account-wide progress and rewards outside of character-specific gear remain safe.
This system creates long-term meaningful investment in your skill choices since respeccing is not immediate or free in the middle of a run. Instead, it offers a fresh start periodically to experiment with new builds or correct earlier choices.
What is lost or kept after reset
| Lost | Kept |
|---|---|
| Character level | Cosmetics |
| Gear equipped | Achievements |
| Skill points and skill tree choices | Account-wide buffs and progress |
| Workshop progress | Progress from incomplete Expeditions |
Because respeccing only happens during the Expedition reset every two months, players must carefully plan their skill tree investments. You cannot currently swap or refund skill points on demand within a season, making each decision impactful until the next reset.
