The Rattler assault rifle in Arc Raiders is a staple gun for veterans and newcomers alike. Its consistency and straightforward upgrade tree makes it the ideal gun for early to mid-game combat. Here's everything you need to know about it - from where to find it to how to unlock and upgrade it.

Rattler assault rifle details

The Rattler uses medium ammo, fires in full-auto mode, and offers:

  • Damage per hit: 9
  • Firing rate: 33.3 rounds/sec
  • Range: 56.2 meters
  • Excellent mid-range effectiveness and capable crowd control, despite having to reload two bullets at a time.

Compared to other mid-tier rifles, the Rattler’s fire rate and ease of finding upgrades make it a very handy weapon for general raid activities and PvP encounters.

Category Value
Ammo Type Medium
Damage 9 per shot
Fire Rate 33.3/sec
Range 56.2 m
Reload Mode 2 bullets/time

Having only 2 bullets at a time can be somewhat limiting, but being a common early game weapon, it's a good beginner weapon that improves with upgrades.

Looting the Rattler: Best locations

The Rattler can drop from general weapon crates and high-value loot rooms. Locations such as buildings with multiple entry points and “secret loot rooms” (often with ladders and rooftop holes) frequently spawn Raider caches, which can contain the Rattler.

Explore the Dam Battlegrounds map, especially the eastern sectors and red tower buildings, as well as the Hydroponic Dome Complex, for these hidden stashes. Listen for unique sounds signaling cache proximity, and try different routes until you score a drop. Since it is a fairly common weapon in the game, you can also find the Rattler on the other three maps, though the chances of it dropping are higher on the Dam Battlegrounds map.

How to Unlock and Use Rattler Blueprints

Blueprints can be found in loot rooms, as trial rewards, or occasionally as quest items. Once you've found a Rattler blueprint, here's how to use it:

  • Head to your base’s Gunsmith bench.
  • Select the blueprint, choose “Learn and Consume,” and the Rattler becomes craftable for your account.

Blueprints can also be sold if you have extras, but holding them unlocks important crafting recipes.

How to craft, upgrade, and mod the Rattler

Materials required to craft the Rattler include:

Weapon Workshop Materials Needed
Rattler I Gunsmith 1 2x Mechanical Components
Rattler II Gunsmith 1+ 2x Mechanical Components, 1x Simple Gun Part
Rattler III Gunsmith 2 3x Advanced Mechanical Components, 2x Medium Gun Parts
Rattler IV Gunsmith 3 4x Advanced Mechanical Components, 3x Medium Gun Parts
  • Gather required crafting items, such as Mechanical Components and Medium Gun Parts, by looting and breaking down gear during raids.
  • At the Gunsmith Workshop (Level 1 required), select Rattler under assault rifles, and providing the materials as listed on the recipe.
  • Confirm the craft to add a fresh Rattler to your inventory.

To upgrade the Rattler, follow the steps below:

  • Reach higher Gunsmith Workshop levels as needed for more advanced upgrades.
  • Spend the listed upgrade items — generally Mechanical Components, Metal Parts, Rubber Parts, and Gun Parts — to move from Rattler I to IV.

Each tier grants boosted durability, reload speed, and overall stats. Prioritize upgrades if you rely on the weapon for longer, more dangerous runs.

To improve the Rattler, attach standard rifle mods (grips, sights, magazine extensions) at higher Gunsmith levels for more accuracy and ammo. Use crafting materials found in raids or purchased from the home base vendor.
