What to know

  • Apple Music is testing direct sharing of songs and lyrics to WhatsApp Status in the iOS 26.2 beta.
  • New sharing layouts will let you pick lyric snippets and display album art, mimicking Spotify’s integration.
  • The feature is currently in beta and might launch officially with the iOS 26.2 update.
  • Apple Music individual plan starts at $10.99/month (₹119/month in India), with one month free for new users.

Apple is enhancing the Apple Music app’s integration with WhatsApp Status. When the update rolls out, a new menu option within Apple Music will let you select a song or a specific set of lyrics and share them directly as a Status update in WhatsApp. This update, spotted in the iOS 26.2 developer beta, brings visually rich layouts and personalized lyric snippets similar to what Spotify users already enjoy.

With the new Apple Music integration, shared songs and lyrics will appear with album art, track details, and styled lyric highlights, rather than the current plain Status cards produced by the standard share sheet.

Inside the Apple Music app (beta), tapping “Share Lyrics” will display a new menu option: “WhatsApp Status.” Selecting it will allow you to choose several lines of lyrics and create a more appealing update. The feature focuses on user customizability, supporting visually engaging music snippets:

  • Pick specific lyric lines to highlight
  • Album art and track info are automatically shown
  • Cleaner, more dynamic templates than previous basic shares

At present, this improved sharing experience is available mainly for lyric snippets, not for sharing entire songs. Interface elements and features are subject to change as Apple refines the rollout.
