Prolific smartphone leaker Evan Blass just outed the release date for Android Wear 2.0. According to a tweet sent out by him, Google will release the OS to the public on February 9th.
Some smartwatches have already received the Android Wear 2.0 developer preview update, such as the Huawei Watch. However, the vast majority of Android smartwatches are still running on version 1.5 or earlier.
Google has been working a long time on perfecting the Android Wear OS for smartwatches. The new update is a big one and will include plenty of new features and improvements. If you want to try out the Wear 2.0 on your Huawei Watch, check out our installation guide.
The public release of Android Wear 2.0 will mean that several Android smartwatches can update to the new OS. Supported smartwatches include, LG G Watch R, Urbane, Urbane 2nd Gen, Moto 360 2nd gen, Sport, Asus ZenWatch 1 and 2, and more.
