What to know
- Android TV's Discover tab is replaced with a new 'Free' tab.
- The Free tab brings all the free movies, shows, and live channels under a single roof.
- The update is rolling out to newer Android TVs, but older Android TV devices are receiving them too.
Even though Google TVs have surpassed older Android TVs, the latter is still getting updates. In a new, highly-useful update, Android TVs will now see a new 'Free' tab that brings all freely available content under one roof.
First discovered by Android Authority, the 'Free' tab will replace the 'Discover' tab, bringing the Android TV interface closer to that of Google TVs.
The 'Free' tab includes free movies, shows, and channels on Android TV, all in one place', reads the update log once the Android TV is updated.
While the rollout is ongoing, it's unclear how if it's widely available or not because there aren't many Android TVs going around. Still, if you own an Android TV, check for an update and treat yourself to some free content.
Along with the replacement of the 'Discovery' tab with the 'Free' tab, the Android TV interface has separate areas for Home, Live, Shop, and Apps, while your watchlist and personalized recommendations have been moved to 'Home'.
