Now that a month has passed since the release of Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo update and the same came out of the Galaxy Note 8 last week, users of the Galaxy S7 Edge look hopefully towards an upcoming final major update. However, it seems that some among the Android community can’t wait that long for the Galaxy S7 Edge Oreo update and have taken matters into their own hands.
XDA member ridwan.sn has successfully ported the Galaxy Note 8 Android 8.0 Oreo update and packaged it for the Galaxy S7 Edge already.
The ported Oreo ROM allegedly comes with all of the stock features introduced for the Note 8 with Samsung Experience 9.0 UX, along with the S Pen if the device is rooted (with physical limitations of course).
The developer has also fixed various issues such as resolution scaling and fixed the backlight bug reported by early adopters.
The firmware file will need a custom recovery such as TWRP to be installed on your Galaxy S7 Edge. Then you can simply boot into recovery, and flash the file to get Android 8.0 Oreo working on your other Samsung flagship way ahead of time.
