A few days ago, the Wi-Fi Alliance cleared several variants of the Galaxy Note 8 to receive Android 8.0 Oreo update and today, the WFA has cleared even more variants of the same phone.
Prior to the latest development, the WFA had cleared mostly European and Asian variants of the Galaxy Note 8, but with the new listing, it’s clear that American carriers are also getting ready to roll out the OS to the flagship phone.
Apart from carrier variants, the unlocked U.S. variant has also been cleared to receive Android 8.0 Oreo, however, this doesn’t mean that all listed variants will get the OTA notifications at the same time. T-Mobile has been on the forefront when it comes to updates and we expect nothing different. The opposite is true when Verizon comes into the picture.
Somewhere in there is a Galaxy Note 8 handset with model number SM-N950W, which is a Canadian variant. In short, Oreo is also heading to the likes of Bell, TELUS, and Rogers, but when exactly remains to be seen.
It’s worth noting that some geeky Galaxy Note 8 users have already installed Android Oreo on their handsets, but the official rollout is yet to begin. At the moment, Oreo is only officially available for the Galaxy S8 and S8+, however, looking at the evidence at hand, it won’t be long before the Note 8 Oreo update starts rolling out.
