Guess what? Xiaomi is pushing the Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Redmi Note 4 handsets in India. Yes, that’s right. Nougat is finally arriving on the Redmi Note 4 handsets.

The news comes just a few hours after Redmi Note 4 users in Greece reported that the Nougat update is hitting their devices.

It’s worth pointing out, however, that the update is arriving as MIUI 8.5.4.0 and not MIUI 9. It will still take a while for Xiaomi to roll out the MIUI 9 update to Redmi Note 4 handsets in India (China Developer ROM rolls out on August 11th).

The current MIUI 8.5 update is around 1.3GB in terms of size and installs the July Android security patch on the smartphone as well.

Xiaomi is currently pushing the Nougat update over-the-air but in phases. What this essentially means is that not all the Redmi Note 4 users in India will receive the update right away. It may take a week or two for the update to arrive on all the handsets.
