Flight is one of the most important milestones in Witchspire. Once unlocked, it dramatically reduces travel time, makes exploration easier, and allows you to reach elevated areas that would otherwise require lengthy climbs.

While the process involves several steps spread across different regions of the island, each requirement builds toward unlocking your first broom and gaining the ability to fly freely.

Locations involved in the flight unlock chain

Several important locations are tied to the flight progression system. Your journey begins in the western reaches of the island at Vyr’s Edge, where a portal leads to the Al’uunian Golem encounter. After obtaining the Tear of Alun, you’ll return to your hearth to upgrade it and unlock new crafting options.

The next destination is a northern island containing a Flight Pillar, which must be activated before any broom can be used. Finally, you’ll need to gather Fine Wood from thick-trunked trees located south of the first abandoned hearth before crafting your broom at a witchcraft circle.

Defeating the Al’uunian Golem and obtaining the Tear of Alun

The first major requirement for flight is obtaining the Tear of Alun. This item is locked behind a story-related boss encounter and serves as the foundation for the entire flight system.

Progress through the main storyline until you gain access to the western section of the island. Travel to Vyr’s Edge, located on the far western side of the map.

Locate and enter the portal connected to the area’s main questline. Prepare for a battle against the Level 10 Al’uunian Golem. Defeat the boss and collect the Tear of Al’uun as your reward.

Upgrading your hearth to Level 4

The Tear of Alun is used to upgrade your hearth, and reaching Level 4 is mandatory because the broom recipe remains locked until then.

Return to your hearth after defeating the Al’uunian Golem. Use the Tear of Alun as part of the upgrade process.

Continue upgrading until your hearth reaches Level 4.

Craft a Spinner, which is required as part of the progression toward broom crafting. Once the upgrade is complete, check your Luminaries to find the newly unlocked broom recipe.

Activating the Flight Pillar

Even after unlocking the recipe, flight will not function until a Flight Pillar has been activated. This step empowers your broom and officially grants access to aerial travel.

Open your world map. Locate the Flight Pillar marker positioned north of your current region.

Travel to the small island where the marker is located. Climb the staircase leading to the top of the structure.

Equipping the broom and enabling flight

After crafting the broom, you still need to equip it before flight becomes available.

Open your character menu. Locate the dedicated broom equipment slot. Equip the Simple Broom. Close the menu and return to gameplay.

Common mistakes that prevent flight from unlocking

Many players obtain the broom recipe but overlook one of the earlier requirements. If flight is unavailable, confirm that you have defeated the Al’uunian Golem, obtained the Tear of Alun, upgraded your hearth to Level 4, crafted the Spinner, activated the Flight Pillar, and equipped the Simple Broom. Missing any of these steps can prevent the flight system from working properly.

Flight represents one of the most impactful upgrades in Witchspire. By defeating the Al’uunian Golem at Vyr’s Edge, upgrading your hearth with the Tear of Alun, activating a Flight Pillar, and crafting a Simple Broom, you’ll unlock a completely new way to explore the world. Once airborne, you’ll be able to traverse the island faster, uncover hidden secrets, and enjoy a much smoother adventuring experience.
