Where to start the “Who Needs Floor Anyways” challenge
The challenge begins in the main Tower social space. Spawn into the Tower Courtyard and head to the upper walkway overlooking the central area.

Look for a small object near an air vent that displays the interaction prompt “Don’t Pick Me Up.” Interacting with it activates the hidden minigame and immediately turns the floor into lava.
How the challenge works
Once activated, a bright beam of light appears somewhere within the Tower Courtyard. This beacon marks your destination.

The objective is simple: travel from your starting position to the beacon without touching the ground below. If your character lands on the floor or takes damage, the attempt fails, and you must restart.
How to complete the “Who Needs Floor Anyways” Triumph
Step 1
Travel to the Tower and load into the main Courtyard social space.

Step 2
Move to the upper level and locate the air vent area containing the interactable object labeled “Don’t Pick Me Up.”

Step 3
Interact with the object to activate the Floor is Lava challenge.

Step 4
Identify the glowing beacon that appears somewhere in the Courtyard. This is your target destination.

Step 5
Use railings, ledges, platforms, decorations, and other elevated objects to move toward the beacon while avoiding the ground.

Step 6
Reach the beacon successfully without touching the floor or taking damage.

Upon reaching the beacon, the challenge completes and the Who Needs Floors Anyways triumph is awarded.
Helpful platforming tips
Some beacon locations are easier than others. If you receive a particularly awkward route, you can intentionally jump off the Tower and respawn to reset the challenge and try again.
Many players overlook decorative objects during the run. Plants and certain environmental decorations can be safely used as stepping stones, making some routes much easier than they initially appear.

Take your time with jumps between banisters and railings. The challenge is not timed, so careful movement is often more effective than rushing.
If you accidentally touch the ground, simply jump off the map and restart the challenge.
Rewards and bonuses
| Reward | Description |
|---|---|
| Who Needs Floors Anyways Triumph | Monument/Triumph completion |
| Blue Glow Effect | Temporary cosmetic aura around your Guardian |
| Increased Jump Height | Allows access to higher Tower locations |
| Exploration Opportunities | Reach rooftops and hidden Tower spots |
What the blue glow does
After completing the challenge, your Guardian receives a distinctive blue glow effect visible to other players in the Tower. Alongside the visual effect, your jump height is significantly increased.

This enhanced mobility allows you to reach rooftops, high ledges, and hidden areas around the social space that are normally inaccessible.
The effect only applies while you’re in the Tower and remains active until it is removed.
How to remove the glow effect
If you no longer want the glow or jump boost, simply jump off the Tower and fall out of bounds. When your character respawns, the effect will be cleared and your movement will return to normal.
The Floor is Lava challenge remains one of Destiny 2’s most entertaining Tower secrets. It is quick to complete, requires no combat, and rewards a fun cosmetic effect alongside the Who Needs Floors Anyways triumph. If you’re working through Triumph collections or simply want to explore the Tower from new heights, this hidden minigame is well worth a few minutes of platforming.
