In Gothic 1 Remake, The Focus Below the Stone Circle is completed by traveling to the path near the Stone Circle, meeting Diego, entering the crypt, using the “Undead Destroy” scroll on the Tomb Guardian while avoiding skeletons in the line of sight, looting the chest key and Orcish Talisman from the guardian’s corpse, giving the talisman to Diego, opening the chest to retrieve the Focus Stone, and returning it to Saturas for 3500 XP (or 4000 XP if this is the fourth focus you deliver).

The Focus Below The Stone Circle quest details
Where to Find the Stone Circle
The Stone Circle is located just outside the New Camp. Follow the path on the right into the mountains. At the end of this mountain path, you’ll meet Milten initially, but for this specific quest, you need to travel to the path near the Stone Circle where Diego is waiting.
How to Complete The Focus Below the Stone Circle
Step 1: Travel to the Path Near the Stone Circle
Head outside the New Camp and follow the mountain path to the right until you reach the Stone Circle area. Diego waits here and will give you the quest. He’ll hand over the Scroll: Undead Destroy.

Diego is hunting an Orcish Talisman, and he discovered the Focus Stone is in the same crypt, so he’s helping you access it.

Step 2: Enter the Crypt with the Spell Ready
Enter the crypt/mound beneath the Stone Circle.

Have the Undead Destroy scroll ready in your spell inventory before you enter. The Tomb Guardian stands in the back portion of the main hall.

Step 3: Cast Undead Destroy on the Guardian
Cast the Undead Destroy spell on the Tomb Guardian in the rear of the hall.

Critical: Make sure no skeletons are in your line of sight. If a skeleton blocks your shot, the spell will hit the skeleton instead, and the Guardian will remain standing (immortal).
Step 4: Clear Skeletons First (Safer Strategy)
The safer approach is to lure the skeletons out first to where Diego is waiting, defeat them completely, then banish the Guardian in the now-empty hall. This prevents accidentally hitting skeletons with your spell.

Step 5: Loot the Tomb Guardian’s Corpse
Once the Guardian is defeated, loot the corpse to obtain:
-
Tomb Chest Key – needed to open the treasure chest
-
Orcish Talisman – Diego’s target item
Step 6: Give the Orcish Talisman to Diego
Return to Diego and hand over the Orcish Talisman from the guardian’s inventory. This completes Diego’s part of the quest.

Step 7: Open the Chest and Take the Focus Stone
Use the Tomb Chest Key you looted to open the chest in the crypt. Inside is the Focus Stone – this is what Saturas needs.

Step 8: Return to Saturas for the Reward
Travel back to the New Camp and deliver the Focus Stone to Saturas. He’ll reward you with 3500 XP. If this is the fourth focus stone you’re delivering, you get an additional 500 XP bonus for 4000 XP total.

This quest is part of the larger “Search for the Focus Stones” main questline for Saturas and the Water Mages.
Critical Mistakes to Avoid
-
Don’t cast Undead Destroy with skeletons in line of sight – The spell will hit skeletons instead of the Guardian, leaving the immortal zombie standing.
-
Don’t skip clearing skeletons first – Luring and defeating skeletons before fighting the Guardian is the safer strategy.
-
Don’t forget to loot both items – You need both the Tomb Chest Key AND the Orcish Talisman from the guardian.
-
Don’t forget to give the talisman to Diego – He needs the Orcish Talisman before you can properly complete his part.
-
Pay attention to the bonus XP – Delivering this as the 4th focus gives you 500 extra XP (4000 total instead of 3500).
Tips for Completion
-
Have Diego fighting with you if possible – He can help clear the skeletons.
-
Save before entering the crypt – The puzzle can be frustrating if you mess up the spell casting.
-
Check your magic level – Ensure you have enough mana to cast the Undead Destroy spell.
-
Position carefully – Stand where you have a clear line to the Guardian without skeletons blocking.
With this Focus Stone, you now have all five focus stones needed for Saturas and the Water Mages’ plan. Report back to Saturas to continue the main questline, then visit Gorian for your reward and Kronos the Orc Keeper for an additional community gift.
I wasn’t expecting a Stonehenge quest in Gothic 1. Did you find any hidden items while you were there?
