Changing factions in VV: Ultimatum is not as straightforward as selecting a new race or allegiance from a menu. How the faction betrayal system works
Rather than permanently changing your race through a character reset, VV: Ultimatum allows organizations to recruit members from opposing factions through the Universal Conscription upgrade.
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Character Wipe Required | No |
| Keep Levels | Yes |
| Keep Progress | Yes |
| Organization Needed | Yes |
| Organization Level Required | Level 3 |
| Key Upgrade | Universal Conscription |
| Upgrade Cost | 30,000 |
| First Conversion Cost | 5,000 |
| Additional Conversion Cost | +500 per player |
| Leader Requirement | Highest rank and Level 70 |
| Main Drawback | Lose access to original home world |
This system essentially lets you join and fight alongside another faction while retaining your existing character, levels, abilities, equipment, and progression. It is particularly useful if your friends choose a different faction and you do not want to start over.

The game treats this as a form of faction betrayal rather than a complete race transformation. As a result, some aspects of your original identity remain intact even after the conversion.
Location of the organization manager
You can find the organization manager NPC at Fort Adams, who is responsible for creating and managing organizations. Players must interact with this NPC before any faction conversion can take place.
Creating an organization requires a substantial amount of in-game currency, so make sure you have enough funds prepared before starting.

How to create an organization
Travel to Fort Adams and locate the organization manager. Create a new organization. The creation fee is approximately 4,000 in-game currency.Invite members and begin progressing your organization.
Your goal is to reach Organization Level 3, which unlocks access to additional upgrades.

How to unlock Universal Conscription
Open your organization’s management menu. Navigate to the Upgrades tab inside the organization lobby. Purchase the Universal Conscription upgrade.
| Upgrade | Cost |
|---|---|
| Universal Conscription | 30,000 |
Once purchased, your organization gains the ability to convert members from other factions.
Requirements to convert players
Not every organization leader can perform faction conversions immediately.
The leader must achieve the highest available organizational rank before the conversion option becomes available. According to player reports, this typically requires reaching Level 70.

Without meeting this requirement, the conversion feature cannot be used even if Universal Conscription has already been purchased.
Conversion costs explained
Converting members becomes progressively more expensive.
| Player Converted | Cost |
|---|---|
| First Player | 5,000 |
| Second Player | 5,500 |
| Third Player | 6,000 |
| Fourth Player | 6,500 |
| Fifth Player | 7,000 |
Each additional conversion increases the cost by 500 currency.
Organizations planning to convert multiple members should prepare a significant amount of funds.
What you keep after changing factions
One of the biggest advantages of this method is that it preserves your character progression.
You keep:
| Preserved Progress | Status |
|---|---|
| Character Level | Yes |
| Skills | Yes |
| Equipment | Yes |
| Quest Progress | Yes |
| Character Slot | Yes |
| Organization Membership | Yes |
This makes the system dramatically better than wiping your slot and starting over from scratch.

Important drawbacks before switching
Although the system allows you to join another faction’s side, it comes with notable restrictions.
The biggest downside is the loss of access to your original faction’s home world and faction-specific travel options.
For example, players originating from Hollow factions may lose the ability to teleport back to locations such as Lost No Chest after conversion.
Because of this, you should carefully consider whether regular access to your original faction hub is important for your build, farming routes, or progression goals.
Is faction betrayal worth it?
Faction betrayal is primarily designed for players who want to play with friends belonging to another faction without sacrificing hundreds of levels, items, or hours of progress.
If your main goal is social play, organization activities, guild content, or faction warfare alongside friends, the Universal Conscription system is currently the most efficient solution available.
| Benefit | Description |
|---|---|
| No Character Wipe | Keep your existing character |
| Keep Progress | Retain levels, skills, and equipment |
| Play With Other Factions | Join friends from different factions |
| Organization Access | Participate in another faction’s organization |
| Faster Than Restarting | Avoid rebuilding a new character |
Should you use Universal Conscription?
For most players, Universal Conscription is the best option when changing sides because it preserves everything you’ve worked for. The costs are substantial, and the organization requirements can take time to complete, but those investments are often far less painful than wiping a character and starting over.
If your priority is maintaining progression while gaining access to another faction’s community and activities, this system offers the closest thing currently available to a faction change in VV: Ultimatum.
