What to know
- You can now delete songs from your Apple Music playlists and favorites when you delete them from your library.
- iOS 27 has updated the Library settings with the new “Add & Delete Playlists Songs” and “Add & Delete Favorite Songs” options.
- With these options, Apple Music’s library management has improved drastically, allowing you to add and delete playlist and favorite songs from library automatically.
For all its amazing features and benefits, Apple Music can sometimes feel lacking, especially when it comes to library management. But with iOS 27, Apple appears to have finally fixed one of the biggest problems with Apple Music’s library management.
Earlier, listeners had the Library option to “Add Playlist Songs” and “Add Favorite Songs”. When enabled, songs added to your playlists or favorites were added to your library. But there was no such management option for when you deleted songs from your library.
With iOS 27, the two options also have the word “Delete” in them. You can find this under Music settings, under Library.

Here’s what the two options do now:
When enabled
- Add & Delete Playlist songs – Songs added to your playlist will also be added to your library. Deleting songs from your library will also remove them from your playlists.
- Add & Delete Favorite songs – Songs you favorite are added to your library. Deleting songs from your library will also remove them from your favorites.
When disabled
- Add & Delete Playlist songs – Songs added to your playlist are not added to your library. Deleting songs from your library does not remove them from your playlist.
- Add & Delete Favorite songs – Songs you favorite are not added to your library. Deleting songs from your library does not remove them from your favorites.
Depending on how you like your library arranged, you can enable the option while adding but disable the option when deleting so that when songs are removed from your library, they continue to stay in your playlists and favorites.
It’s a fun little combination of choices that lets you manage your Apple Music library with more granular control.
