Where the Arctic Plains entrance is located
The Arctic Plains entrance is found within the Precipice region. Behind a massive frozen door, an NPC guard blocks access to the zone. You cannot simply walk into the area; the NPC requires proof that you’ve defeated the Crocodile King. Once you hand over the required scale, the gate opens permanently, allowing travel into the Arctic Plains whenever needed.
Preparing for the journey through the Marsh
Before attempting the unlock process, make sure you obtain a Respirator. The Marsh contains hazardous environmental effects that make travel difficult without it.
Players who do not already own a Respirator should travel to Nebukai Village and complete the related questline that unlocks the crafting recipe. This recipe requires Spirit Alloy and other materials before the item can be crafted.
Without a Respirator, progressing through the Marsh becomes significantly harder and may prevent you from reaching the boss efficiently.
How to unlock Arctic Plains in VV: Ultimatum
Step 1
Equip your Respirator and enter the Marsh.
Once prepared, head into the Marsh region and begin moving deeper into the swamp. Using Spiritual Sense (hold C by default) can help you navigate and identify important landmarks along the route.
Step 2
Travel toward the Swamp King’s Retreat.
The Crocodile King resides near the Swamp King’s Retreat. Follow the swamp pathways while keeping an eye on enemy mobs and environmental hazards. Spiritual Sense makes locating the destination much easier.
Step 3
Defeat the Crocodile King.
The Crocodile King is the key progression boss for unlocking Arctic Plains. Defeat him and collect the Crocodile King Scale, which serves as proof of your victory.

Step 4
Travel to the Precipice.
After obtaining the scale, begin your journey to the Precipice. Many players travel from Seawater Pass and use movement abilities such as double jumps to reach the area faster.

Step 5
Set your spawn point.
Upon arriving at the Precipice, it is highly recommended that you bind your spawn location there. Doing so makes future trips much easier if you need to return for quests or farming.
Step 6
Speak to the frozen gate guardian.
Locate the giant frozen door within the Precipice and interact with the NPC standing nearby. The NPC will request the Crocodile King Scale.
Provide the scale to complete the unlock requirement.
Step 7
Enter Arctic Plains.
Once the scale has been accepted, the frozen gate opens and grants access to the Arctic Plains. You can now enter the region and begin tackling its higher-level content.
