If you can’t find Scavengers there, also check fields just outside the north gate.

Step 4: Find Solanaceae Herbs

Collect 2 Solanaceae herbs from caves. Best locations:

Option A – South Gate Cave (recommended):

  • Go to the south gate of Old Camp.

Total Cost & Tips

  • Total ore needed: ~24–25 ore (mostly for Dexter’s items)

  • If you don’t have enough ore, sell spare weapons, armor, or materials to merchants

  • Collect Solanaceae while doing other cave quests (like The Vanished Warder) to save time

  • You only need 2 of each, not more

Critical Mistakes to Avoid

  • Buying only 1 of each vegetable – you need 2 of every ingredient

  • Looking for Scavengers inside the town – they’re outside, mainly near the north gate fields

  • Skipping the south gate cave – it’s the easiest place to get Solanaceae early

  • Not talking to Snaf first – the quest won’t start until you speak to him at the cauldron.

This covers all ingredient locations, exact quantities, and costs so you can complete The Forgotten Recipe quickly without wasting ore or time.
