How to Get Scar’s Sword in Chapter 1

Step 1: Gain Access to the Old Camp Inner Section

First, complete quests in the Outer Ring to unlock entry to the castle area. Specifically, you need to deliver a letter to the fire mages to gain access to the inner castle section where Scar resides.

Step 2: Wait Until Midnight

Scar is surrounded by many of his guards in the throne room during the day. The safest approach is to show up around midnight when the area is empty and most guards have left.

Step 3: Isolate Scar

Sometimes Scar or his friend may still be present at midnight. If both try to leave:

• Talk to them — this causes his friend to head upstairs while Scar stays alone in the throne room.

• Once he’s isolated, you can engage him without alerting other guards.

Step 4: Save Before the Fight

Make a save before attacking Scar. He can down you with one hit and deals massive damage, so preparation is critical.

Step 5: Defeat Scar

• Engage him while he’s alone before he alerts other guards.

• If you’re having trouble, unlock the Acrobatics skill — it makes combat much easier by improving mobility.

• Practice the fight; after a few attempts you should be able to defeat him consistently.

Step 6: Take His Weapons

Once Scar is defeated, he drops:

• Scar’s Sword (85 damage)

• Best crossbow in the game

You can leave immediately after. Bonus: If you return later, Scar doesn’t remember you attacked him, and you keep his weapons for free.

Critical Mistakes to Avoid

• Don’t attack during the day — you’ll be swarmed by multiple guards

• Don’t skip saving — Scar can kill you in one hit

• Don’t engage without 70 strength — you won’t be able to use the sword effectively

• Don’t forget Acrobatics — this skill significantly eases the fight if you’re struggling

• Don’t worry about reputation — Scar doesn’t retaliate or remember the attack later
