What to know
-
The Red Brick is located in a vent‑style corridor you pass while chasing the Red Hood‑piloted bears.
-
It sits inside a leaking pipe and only appears once you plug a series of ruptures with foam.
-
You must use Jim Gordon’s foam launcher to seal each breach until the brick is pushed out of the pipe.
-
The modifier it unlocks is tied to the mission’s toxic‑waste theme and does not move to other areas.
The Red Hood Gang mission at Ace Chemicals in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight hides a single Red Brick in a side‑vent area just before you reach the main production floor, and it is tied to a multistep foam‑and‑pipe‑puzzle after you follow the dirigible‑towed bears. The brick unlocks the Toxic Waste modifier, which affects how chemical hazards behave in the level. Here’s how to get it.
How to reach the Red Hood Gang Red Brick location
Once you are in the The Red Hood Gang chapter at Ace Chemicals, you progress through a series of hallways and catwalks while the Red Hood controls the bears with a giant dirigible overhead.

Defeat the last henchman here.

Then press the red button.

This leads to a narrow corridor with a glass‑panelled walkway on one side, offering a view down into a large interior room where Red Hood goons are loosely gathered below.

At the far end of this hallway, instead of pressing straight ahead toward the main production area, you need to turn right.

Look for a small, low‑lying opening in the wall.

This hole leads into a tight vent‑style passage filled with exposed pipes and dripping fluid, which sets up the Red Brick puzzle.

How to solve the pipe‑leak puzzle
Step 1
Crawl into the vent‑corridor and examine the first large pipe where the Red Brick is lodged.

The brick is stuck in a horizontal section of pipe with a visible leak spraying goo outward; your goal is to force pressure through the pipe by sealing all ruptures.
Step 2
Switch to or call Jim Gordon if you are not already using him.

His foam launcher is the only tool that can temporarily seal the leaks, so you must have him present in the party.
Step 3
Target the first visible pipe rupture and fire a foam shot at the spraying spot until the leak stops.

The pipe will refill slightly and the Red Brick will move a short distance, but another leak will appear further along the same line.

Do the same there too.

Step 4
Next, you’ll have to go to the next room.

To do so, switch to Batman, and pull the door down.

Then grapple your way up.

Don’t worry about Gordon. He’ll follow suit on his own. Advance down the pipe trail and identify the next rupture.

Step 5
Once Gordon follows, switch to him. Then seal the leak.

You’ll now be able to collect the red brick.

And just like that, you have the Toxic Waste modifier unlocked.

Step 6
The Red Brick collection is counted immediately, and the Toxic Waste modifier becomes active for the rest of The Red Hood Gang mission.
How to fit the Red Brick into your completion run
Because Red Bricks in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight are tied to specific missions and do not transfer between areas, it makes sense to pick this one up during your first playthrough of The Red Hood Gang. If you come back later in Free Play, you can still solve the vent puzzle again, but the modifier will only ever apply to this Ace Chemicals chapter.
If you are aiming for 100% in the level, the Red Brick shares the same mission map as the five Ace Cards and five WayneTech Caches, so it is efficient to plan a single route that loops through the main catwalk, the vent room, the large pipe chamber, and the lower party area without repeatedly backtracking.
Useful tips while hunting the Red Brick
-
Do not skip the vent room too quickly; the small right‑turn opening is easy to miss if you are rushing toward the main factory chamber.
-
If you leave the vent before finishing the pipe sequence, you do not need to start the whole mission over; you can simply reenter the same hallway and re‑engage the puzzle.
-
Use the pipe‑leak pattern as a visual guide: each time you seal one leak, the next rupture will appear a bit further along the same line, so always move in the direction the pressure is flowing.
If you treat this brick as part of a single, well‑planned lap through The Red Hood Gang, bouncing between the catwalk, the vent room, the big pipe chamber, and the lower party area, you can clear this chapter’s collectibles efficiently and keep your run smooth and focused.
