What to know
-
Scanning two separate fragments unlocks the complete blueprint.
-
Both fragments rest near the old habitat located north of the starting lifepod.
-
The scanner tool is necessary to acquire the design.
-
Placing the crafted turbine in water currents provides unlimited base power.
Securing a reliable power source is a major milestone for underwater survival in Subnautica 2. The hydroelectric turbine offers a consistent energy supply by harnessing natural ocean currents. Unlocking this technology requires a short expedition to scan specific wreckage fragments scattered on the ocean floor.
The fragments for this machinery are situated around the old BFJ Habitat, which lies to the north of the main starting lifepod. This area is characterized by deep trenches. You must dive into the deeper sections of this biome to spot the abandoned technology resting on the seabed and adjacent hills.
How to find the hydroelectric turbine blueprints
Step 1
Ensure you have a scanner equipped before leaving your lifepod.
Step 2
Face directly north and swim approximately 350 meters toward the old habitat biome.

Step 3
Navigate past the rocks and dive deep toward the seabed as you approach the old habitat ruins.

Step 4
Locate the first turbine fragment near the bottom of the habitat ruins.

Use your scanner to record the data.

Step 5
Turn and swim slightly up the adjacent hill.

Past the hill, dive back down.

On a small platform, you’ll find the second platform.

Step 6
Scan the second fragment to fully unlock the complete schematic.
