Crimson Desert‘s hunting challenge ‘Small Predator’ focuses on interacting with elusive small predators from the weasel family, testing your ability to spot and handle wildlife without combat. Progress tracks automatically as you carry distinct animals, leading to valuable beast-enhancing rewards.
Small Predator locations
Head west from Demeniss Castle through farmlands to find the Sealed Abyss Artifact for Small Predator.
It will be resting beside a lone tree at the edge of fields.
Weasels and raccoons spawn in forested hills, mountain bases, and outskirts of Demeniss and Hernand regions, often near paths or ruins where they scurry in small groups.
Raccoons favor shadowy wooded spots like Silver Wolf Mountain trails, identifiable by masked faces and ringed tails, while weasels dart through grassy underbrush in Demeniss farmlands and nearby woods.
How to catch weasel family animals
Run directly at the animal and hold the Carry button to scoop it up safely without harming it.
Step 1: Spot the target
Scan grassy edges, tree lines, or rocky outcrops in Demeniss farmlands and Hernand forests during day or dusk when activity peaks.
Step 2: Approach quickly
Sprint towards the weasel or raccoon; they flee fast, so close distance before initiating grab to avoid chase failures.
Step 3: Execute the grab
Hold Catch button while near. Character will lift the animal overhead.
Step 4: Carry briefly
Hold for a moment to register progress, then drop by releasing or inputting drop command; animal scurries away unharmed.
Step 5: Repeat for next
Locate another distinct weasel. Avoid reusing the same one.
Common pitfalls and fixes
Animals spook easily near roads or players, so approach from cover like bushes. Fast travel or rest at camps refreshes spawns if none appear. Nighttime reduces visibility but raccoons glow faintly under lantern light. Track via knowledge compendium under foxes and predators for weasels, confirming family match.
After carrying the fifth animal, open inventory, select the Sealed Abyss Artifact, stand still with weapons sheathed, and activate to consume it. Rewards transfer immediately, enhancing future hunts with better animal interactions and combat prowess.
This challenge unlocks deeper wildlife mechanics, aiding ranch building, pet taming parallels, and ecosystem knowledge for bigger quests.
