A Will Harder Than Rock locations
Travel north from Hernand toward Sage’s Peak to reach Root’s End Ruins, a massive elevated rock formation loaded with deceptive rocks that hide stoneback crabs everywhere, including spots with small trees for extra camouflage.
The challenge starts separately north of Demeniss by Kingshield Mountains along the pathway near a distinctive rock tower. This setup keeps action concentrated in one high-density farming spot after grabbing the artifact.
How to start the challenge
Head to the pathway north of Demeniss between the D and E map markers, right next to Kingshield Mountains.
Spot the rock tower formation and interact to pick up the Sealed Abyss Artifact shrine nearby if not already obtained.
This unlocks the “Defeat 10 Stoneback Crabs” objective, tying into broader hunting achievements like Ultimate Hunter.
How to find stoneback crabs
Navigate north from Hernand to Sage’s Peak and climb to the top of the giant rock structure at Root’s End Ruins—it stands out clearly on the map.
Scan every rock surface, as stoneback crabs masquerade perfectly as boulders, including those clustered to the right under trees.
Activate Blinding Light skill to reveal and wake them from foliage or suspicious stones if needed, ensuring you spot the full group quickly.
Step-by-step guide to defeat 10 crabs
Step 1
Climb the prominent rock paths to the summit of Root’s End Ruins, confirming you’re on the flat top with scattered rocks and tree clusters.
Step 2
Approach each rock systematically—stoneback crabs aggro when close, revealing crab forms with stony backs; dodge initial pincer swipes.
Step 3
Use basic sword combos or Force Palm to break their defenses; target legs for stuns, then back crystals if present for faster kills.
Step 4
Clear left-side clusters first (5-6 crabs), then right-side tree-covered rocks (remaining 4+); they respawn slightly if you need extras.
