The expansion’s biggest addition is the Jin Dynasty civilization. The faction focuses heavily on aggressive cavalry tactics, economic tribute systems, and powerful late-game gunpowder warfare. Players can expect several new unique units, including Mounted Grenadiers, Iron Pagoda cavalry, and Eruptor infantry units designed specifically for explosive battlefield pressure.

The DLC also includes a new eight-mission single-player campaign that follows Yue Fei during the Song-Jin Wars. The story explores the Southern Song Dynasty’s resistance efforts after northern China falls to Jin forces. Other historical figures, including Han Shizhong, also appear throughout the campaign narrative.
Outside of the campaign, the update introduces four additional maps and two new biomes that expand multiplayer and skirmish variety. The Yellow River and Madagascar biomes are expected to offer new terrain layouts and strategic opportunities for both competitive and casual play.
The release also arrives alongside broader gameplay improvements, including AI updates, quality-of-life features, multiplayer adjustments, and balance changes across civilizations. Players who pre-order the expansion can currently receive a launch discount of 15% on supported storefronts – Xbox, Microsoft, and Steam.
