Crimson Desert’s first major post-launch update, Patch 1.00.02, is now rolling out starting March 20, 2026, at 1:00 UTC for PlayStation and the Epic Games Store, with Xbox and Mac App Store releases arriving later. If you are on PlayStation, you will receive this update in two parts—Patch 1.00.01 (already live) and Patch 1.00.02, which includes additional marked fixes.
This update goes beyond a simple hotfix. You get meaningful gameplay improvements, combat adjustments, and system-level polish across the entire experience.

One of the most noticeable additions is a new tutorial quest at the start of Chapter 3, designed to help you better understand Abyss Gears. Alongside this, developers fixed issues where certain quests failed to progress, addressing one of the most frustrating early problems players faced.
You will also notice improvements across general content and systems. Housing mode usability has been refined, and multiple systems that previously behaved incorrectly have been fixed. Combat-related interactions have been adjusted as well—especially the QTE difficulty when you are captured by enemies, which now scales more naturally based on repeated captures. A particularly important change removes the bear enemy’s instant-kill damage, replacing it with more balanced output.

Companion-related issues have also been addressed. If you previously saw incorrect Greymane comrade counts or missing entries, this should now be fixed. Additionally, recently viewed cutscenes can now be fast-forwarded more quickly, improving overall pacing (this applies specifically to Patch 1.00.02 on PlayStation).
The skills system receives a notable upgrade. The “Watch and Learn” feature is now easier to use, and the Skills menu has been reorganized so you can clearly see abilities categorized by weapon type. Several characters also gain new combat depth: Kliff now has a finishing blow for Flurry of Blows, Damiane gets a follow-up greatsword combo, and Oongka gains an additional dual-wield attack.

Boss fights see some of the most impactful changes in this patch. The Tenebrum fight in Chapter 4 has been reworked so you no longer need to replay its puzzle phase after dying (again, part of the 1.00.02 PlayStation rollout). Boss balance adjustments, including changes to the Reed Devil encounter, aim to make fights feel fairer. You will also no longer be attacked while reviving, and several bugs tied to boss movement and fight progression have been resolved. Enemy behavior improvements, particularly for Walker-type monsters, further enhance combat flow.

NPC interactions are now more polished. You should notice better animations, improved lip-sync, and more natural dialogue delivery. Issues where subtitles and voice lines did not match have been fixed, along with abnormal interactions involving animals and NPCs.
Localization has been improved across all supported languages, reducing errors and enhancing overall clarity. UI fixes also address text display, sound effects, and functionality issues that affected navigation and readability.
Finally, performance optimizations play a key role in this update. You can expect better stability across PC and consoles, along with fixes for crashes and general performance inconsistencies reported at launch.
