In Arknights: Endfield, “Search the area for clues” is the investigation sweep you must do for the quest “A Brewing Storm: The Hub”, where you follow Thurston’s lead, collect a few interactable clues around the Hub, then fix a module via a terminal puzzle. Here’s how to go about it.

Location
The quest takes place around the Hub’s immediate investigation area, where the objective directs you to search locally. You’ll be moving between nearby walkways, devices, and points of interest that allow an interact prompt to collect “clue” progress.
How to Search for clues and complete ‘A Brewing Storm: The Hub’
Head to Thurston in the Hub and accept the request to help with the investigation. You’ll need to talk to him twice before the quest tracker updates to “Search the area for clues.”
First Clue
The first clue is right there on the table – Containers that were smashed with tremendous force.
Second Clue
The second clue is upstairs – The Landlord’s body.
Third Clue
The third clue will be on the same floor, behind you – a Crumpled Paper Scrap.
After the last clue interaction, go to the terminal nearby.
And repair a module using the Originium Circuitry puzzle interface.
The puzzle solution should look like this:
Once repaired, Activate the Terminal.
Then select Voice Log: Shut Down.
Go back to Thurston in the Hub and interact to conclude the investigation step and complete A Brewing Storm: The Hub.
