Shears are an essential tool in Hytale for collecting wool without harming sheep. To craft them, you first need a normal Workbench and then a Farmer’s Workbench, after which just x1 Iron Ingot is enough to make a pair. This guide walks you through crafting shears and using them efficiently for sustainable wool farming.
How to craft a Shears in Hytale
In order to craft Shears in Hytale, you’ll need a Farmer’s Workbench. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Craft a Farmer’s Workbench
Open a regular workbench and locate the Farmer’s Workbench recipe. You’ll need:
- x6 Tree Trunks (any type)
- x20 Plant Fibers (from grass, ferns, or similar plants)
Click Craft, then place the Farmer’s Workbench in the world by right-clicking. Walk up to it and press F to open its crafting menu.

Step 2: Craft the Shears
Inside the Farmer’s Workbench, go to the Farming tab to see related recipes. Find the Shears, which require:
- x1 Iron Ingot
Click Craft to make the shears, then drag them into your inventory to use on sheep and collect wool.

How to use Shears
Equip the Shears, approach a sheep, and right-click (or press the interaction button) to collect wool. The sheep will drop a piece of wool, and the shears can be used repeatedly without needing to craft new ones.
