Before luring anything, you need both a Feed Bag and at least one Capture Crate. Craft or obtain a Feed Bag suitable for the animal you want to tame (wheat Feed Bag for rabbits, corn for chickens, lettuce for sheep).
Use the Farmer’s Workbench to craft a Capture Crate, which is required to actually collect the animal once it is tamed.
How to tame animals with a Feed Bag
Follow the steps below to tame animals with ease using a Feed Bag in Hytale:
Step 1: Place the lure bag near the animal
Put the lure bag down on the ground close to the animal you want to affect, such as a rabbit wandering nearby.
Step 2: Watch for heart icons
After you place the bag, look for love hearts appearing above the animal’s head, which indicate that the animal has been successfully tamed and is no longer afraid of you.
Step 3: Test the animal’s new behavior
Move or even sprint around the animal to confirm that it has stopped running away and now stays calm near you.
Step 4: Capture the animal
Once the lure has worked, equip your capture crate (crafted at the Farmer’s Workbench), walk up to the tamed animal, and left-click it to instantly store the animal inside the crate so you can move it wherever you need.
Step 5: Repeat if a lure fails
If an animal still runs away or never shows hearts, assume the lure did not work for that individual and simply try the same process on a different animal of the same type.
Choose the right feed for each animal
Not every creature in Hytale reacts to the same lure or food, so using the correct item is essential for successful taming.
- Rabbits are attracted to the Wheat Feed Bag.
