What to know
- Sony launches cloud streaming (Beta) on PlayStation Portal today.
- You can stream 120+ PS5 games without a PS5 if you have PS Plus Premium.
- Beta keeps controller features but lacks party chat and PS4/PS3 games.
Sony has started testing cloud streaming (Beta) on PlayStation Portal. The Beta lets you play PS5 games without owning the console if you pay for PS Plus Premium.
You can now stream over 120 PS5 games like Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The games run at 1080p with 60 frames per second when your internet hits 13 Mbps or higher.
The Beta keeps the Portal’s controller features working – you’ll feel the vibrations, trigger resistance, and can use motion controls. You get 100GB of cloud storage for your saves and can switch between downloading or streaming games.
Since this is a test phase, some things don’t work yet. You can’t try game demos, chat with friends, use the create button, hear 3D audio, or buy things in games. PS4 and PS3 games aren’t part of the streaming Beta.
To try the Beta, you need a Portal device, PS Plus Premium, and good internet. It’s available in 30 countries including the US, UK, Canada and much of Europe. Just go to Quick Menu settings and turn on Cloud Streaming to start playing.
