Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra Set for 2024 Launch

What to know

  • Samsung confirms Galaxy Tab S10 series will launch before the end of 2024.
  • The lineup may only include Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra models, skipping the base version.
  • New tablets expected to feature large AMOLED screens and possibly MediaTek chipsets.

Samsung fans eagerly awaiting the next generation of premium Android tablets can rejoice. The tech giant has officially confirmed that the Galaxy Tab S10 series is on its way and will hit the market before the end of 2024.

While the recent Samsung Unpacked event in Paris showcased a range of new products, including foldables and wearables, the absence of the Galaxy Tab S10 series was notable. However, a Samsung South Africa representative has now revealed to Android Authority that the new tablets are indeed in the pipeline.

Interestingly, rumors suggest that Samsung may be streamlining its tablet offerings this time around. Reports indicate that the company might skip the base model, focusing instead on the Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra variants. This move could be aimed at competing more directly with Apple’s iPad Pro lineup, which features larger screen sizes.

Both the Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra are expected to sport expansive AMOLED displays, with screen sizes potentially starting at 12 inches and going up to 14.6 inches for the Ultra model. This shift towards larger screens aligns with the growing trend of tablets being used for productivity and content creation.

While official specifications are yet to be announced, leaked benchmarks and industry whispers point to some interesting possibilities. The Galaxy Tab S10 series might feature MediaTek Dimensity chipsets in some regions, marking a departure from the Snapdragon processors typically used in Samsung’s flagship tablets.

This potential switch to MediaTek could allow Samsung to optimize performance while potentially offering more competitive pricing. However, it’s worth noting that chip selection may vary by region, with some markets possibly retaining Qualcomm silicon.

Given Samsung’s recent focus on AI capabilities, it’s likely that the Galaxy Tab S10 series will incorporate various Galaxy AI features. One particularly exciting prospect is the potential inclusion of the Drawing Assist function, which would leverage AI to transform simple S Pen sketches into polished artwork.

While an exact release date hasn’t been pinned down, the confirmation of a 2024 launch suggests that Samsung is moving slightly faster than its usual tablet release cycle. This could mean a standalone announcement rather than waiting for the next major Unpacked event, which typically coincides with the Galaxy S series phone launches in early 2025.

As we move closer to the end of the year, expect more details about the Galaxy Tab S10 series to emerge. For now, Android tablet enthusiasts can look forward to a new generation of premium devices that aim to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the tablet space.
